Arriving by train

Koblenz is located at the IC/EC track that connects the major cities from north to south. After leaving the main station you will find the bus depot right in front of you.

Useful: You can buy tickets in advance and print them on your printer. The printed copy is valid together with credit card that was used for payment. Tickets without seat reservation are valid for all trains of the chosen price category ( RegionalBahn, InterCity, or InterCityExpress).

Airport Frankfurt: http://www.frankfurt-airport.de/ Major airport about 115 km from Koblenz.

Terminal 1 is connected to train stations for regional trains (Regionalbahnhof) and long distance trains (Fernbahnhof). From Fernbahnhof you will have a connection about every hour, although there are only a few direct trains. Usually you have to change trains in Mainz. The train ride takes approx. 70 minutes. For train schedules see above. All major car rental companies have a desk at the terminal. By car it will take about 70 minutes.

The ICE train station is right in front of Terminal 1. Trains to Koblenz are leaving every hour. The ride will take about 90 minutes. You can rent a car at the airport from one of the major car rental companies. Driving time by car is about one hour.

Buses from Löhr Center to the venue

The buses #3, #20, #355 depart across the street from Löhr Center itself (platform N or M). The bus #5 departs from the platform K, directly at Löhr Center. Please mind the direction displayed on the bus, which should read "Metternich (UNI)" or "Rübenach".

Buses from Central Terminal (Train Station, "Hauptbahnhof") to the venue

The buses #5 and #20 depart from the platform D. The buses #3 and #355 depart (only few times a day) from the platform H.

Buses from the conference hotels

"Contel": Bus services from hotel (Ludwig-Erhard-Straße) to conference venue (Winninger Straße): #3 (Güls), #355 (Kobern-Gondorf) The Cityhotel Kurfürst Balduin is only a short walking distance away from Löhr Center, on the same side of Hohenfelder-Str. See above for bus info. The "Fährhaus am Stausee" is in a 8-minute walking distance from the conference-venue.

Arrival at the venue

With the buses #3, #20, #355 take the stop "Winninger Strasse". It is the stop immediately after you cross the big bridge (Kurt-Schumacher-Brücke) over the Moselle river (press the STOP button when you are on the bridge). After disembarking proceed ahead. There will be a crossing right in front of you. Cross it and then turn right. After ~30m you should have reached the venue.

With the bus #5 take the stop "UNI Metternich", which is the final stop of the line and is located on campus.

* Bus #20 departs from the bus stop at the end of the big bridge (Kurt-Schumacher-Brücke)-complementary to the arrival stop. * Buses #3 and #355 stop 30m further away, on Winninger Strasse itself, which runs orthogonally to the above stop. * Bus #5 departs from the stop "UNI Metternich", which is located on campus. This bus is much slower than the others.

Bus tickets

Bus tickets are available from the driver. A single ticket from the city center to the conference venue costs EUR 1,95. A day ticket - EUR 4 and a week ticket EUR 14,40 (last one are is available from information offices at the above stops). A discount for BahnCard? holders is available. Train and bus information on-line The bahn.de portal can compute routes for trains and buses in Koblenz. Please type "Koblenz Hbf" for the central terminal. You can also type in street addresses. For rides to/from the conference venue, it's better to consult the schedule linked above.

Taxi

In general, it is safe to take any taxi in the city. The ride from the train station to the conference venue should cost around 10 Euro.
