Social Skills for the German labour market

The workshop "Social Skills for the German Labour Market" is designed for international master’s students who want to strengthen their intercultural competencies and their ability to navigate both traditional and modern work models. It provides hands-on communication strategies and guidance on the effective use of non-verbal signals to succeed in both structured and flexible work environments in Germany.Participants will learn how to leverage their individual strengths in structured settings. Interactive exercises and case studies offer valuable insights into conflict management and adaptation to different work processes. The goal is to facilitate a smooth integration into the German labour market and support the professional success of international talents. Topics covered in workshop:

  • Brief introduction to the German labour market and corporate culture
  • Intercultural competence and communication for Germany
  • Professional communication and networking in Germany
  • Soft skills and teamwork in Germany

Each topic begins with a short input session, followed by practical exercises, reflections, or discussions to deepen understanding. The workshop takes place online, and all participants are expected to have their cameras turned on. Active participation is required, and exercises will be conducted in breakout rooms, with the trainer available for individual support. The workshop is part of the FIT4SukCESS programme, a DAAD-funded cooperation project between the Interdisziplinäres Karriere- und Studienzentrum (IKaruS) and the International Relations Office (IRO) of the University of Koblenz. The workshop is primarily aimed at international students who take part in the FIT4SukCESS-Certificate.
