Successful Contributions of the University of Koblenz at the World CLIL Conference in Ireland

A couple of weeks after the World CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) Conference, which took place at Maynooth University in Ireland on 13 and 14 June, the impressions are still fresh and inspiring. The interdisciplinary CLIL Academy of the University of Koblenz, a team consisting of colleagues from English and American Studies, Microbiology and the International Relations Office, contributed with a variety of presentations:
• a talk on “Pathway to CLIL” (presented by Dr. Sarah Wunderlich
• poster presentations on CLIL and CLIL and dual subject literacy in higher education (presented by Ann-Katrin Biehl) as well as on CLIL lab courses in genetics (presented by Yvonne Werle and Ricarda Diedrichs)
• an interactive workshop where participants could practically experience exercises from the CLIL-based CRISPR/Cas lab (presented by Yvonne Werle and Ricarda Diedrichs)
• As a special highlight, we presented a joint symposium titled “Embracing the I in CLIL,” hosted by Prof. Dr. Constanze Juchem-Grundmann. Our contribution was built on our understanding of CLIL in Koblenz, which was also shaped by Dr. Felicitas Kexel (née Fein), who sadly couldn’t join us this time.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to Maynooth University and the World CLIL Committee for the inspiring exchange with researchers and educators from around the world.
