World CLIL 2027
Embracing the ‘C’ in CLIL – Focusing on the content-subject and best practice approaches to fully integrate content and language

Traditionally, CLIL research mostly looks into the language teaching and learning aspect and only little research is centered solely around the teaching and learning of the content subject. The 2027 World CLIL seeks to “break” with this tradition by attempting to “rope in the content people” – a plea voiced at the 2025 World CLIL in Maynooth, Ireland.
So, for the upcoming World CLIL we would like to encourage and invite everybody with a focus on the content side of CLIL. Furthermore, we intend to further strengthen the ‘I’ in CLIL by welcoming and integrating not only researchers and aspiring researchers, but also members of the first and second phase of teacher education as well as active practitioners and teachers to share their insights, ideas, and best practice examples. We also seek to include all levels of education to share their thoughts and experiences with CLIL.
Together, we hope to find new ideas, inspirations, and best practice examples to help us to overcome the vehicular approach to language but fully and equally integrate content and language.
We are looking forward to welcoming people from all walks of (educational) life to Koblenz in 2027!
