How it works
The programme brings together international students and alumni from the University of Koblenz. It emphasises personal exchange and provides individual support on an equal footing.
1. Registration
2. Matching
Mentors get a profile in the Mentor Gallery on the programme homepage.
Mentees can view mentor profiles and indicate their mentoring preferences when registering for the programme. The project team is responsible for the final allocation, considering the mentees' preferences along with their language skills, academic background, and career goals.
3. Mentoring
The mentoring relationship lasts at least six months and is supported by members of the FIT4SukCESS team. During this period, at least three individually agreed meetings take place - in person or digitally. The tandems are responsible for shaping the mentoring relationship, with support provided by the programme team.
Topics that are typically covered include:
- Application tips and self-presentation
- Orientation in everyday working life
- Building a professional network
Framework Conditions
- Duration: at least 6 months, with at least 3 flexible meetings, online or in person

- First meeting: The aim is to get to know each other and clarify the expectations and goals, as well as the form of communication (discussion guide available).
- After the first meeting: The tandem provides brief feedback to the programme team
- Final meeting: Joint reflection on the mentoring relationship, possibly with a view to further cooperation (discussion guide available)
- After the final meeting: Individual final evaluation by the FIT4SukCESS team
Basics of the Mentoring Relationship
- A successful mentoring relationship is built on trust, openness and mutual respect. It is also based on the voluntary participation and commitment of everyone involved.
- During the time-limited mentoring process, mentors and mentees jointly define goals, responsibilities, and how they will collaborate.
- The scope and focus of the programme are agreed individually, based on the mentees' personal goals and needs, and the mentors' experience and competence. If misunderstandings or uncertainties arise during the programme, the project staff are available to provide support.
