The decline in biodiversity is one of the most pressing issues of our time. This is caused by various human activities that lead to land-use change, climate change and environmental pollution. We are investigating the effects of such factors on various groups of animals.

Animal populations are constantly exposed to changing environmental conditions. How do they cope with this, and how do they adapt?

Many of the factors mentioned above also affect the life cycles of insects. We are investigating this primarily in butterflies.
