The Information Systems and Smart Data research group (Riehle junior professorship) deals with topics relating to the collection of data (sensor technology, Internet of Things), data management (IT infrastructures) and the analysis of corresponding data. The focus here is on design-oriented research, in particular the development of prototypes.

We analyse how data from different sources can be merged, administered and processed. Data formats, interfaces and database management systems are of particular importance. In order to answer questions relevant to business management, we use formal, methodological and technical methods that are suitable for investigating the storage and analysis of data. As part of practical co-operations, we test the solutions we have developed in order to improve not only operational procedures (business processes), but also the quality and scope of the data provided. As data is an important basis for business decisions, our solutions enable organisations to make better quality decisions.
