4.1 Interaction and use of functionalities of the service
We use our LinkedIn profile to provide you with content related to our public-interest activities (public relations of the University of Koblenz). The processing includes reporting on current topics, interacting and communicating with visitors, receiving and processing requests, complaints or other feedback. The University of Koblenz has no influence on the type and extent of the data processed by LinkedIn, the type of processing and use or the transfer of this data to third parties. It also has no effective means of control in this respect.
The categories of personal data processed include profile name, profile picture, ‘likes’, contact information, education and professional background, type and content of interaction (e.g. sharing, rating, commenting), date and time of interaction, type of device.
4.2 Statistical analysis using LinkedIn page insights
We use page insights to ensure that the content of our LinkedIn profile is well-structured and continuously optimised. The provider supplies us with anonymised data in the form of statistics about how many users visit the page and when they interact with it (page insights).
LinkedIn provides more information here about page insights and which categories of personal data are processed and how.
The use of our LinkedIn profile and the related processing of personal data by the University of Koblenz is based on Article 6 (1) (e) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in conjunction with Section 3 of the Rhineland-Palatinate Data Protection Act (LDSG) in conjunction with Section 2 (11) of the Rhineland-Palatinate Higher Education Act (HochSchG) and serves to perform necessary tasks in the public interest (public relations work of the University of Koblenz), as well as, in the case of page insights, to optimise our public relations work and to communicate with our visitors more effectively.
If you contact us voluntarily via our LinkedIn profile, your data will be processed on the basis of your express consent in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.
For Page Insights, the processing is carried out in joint controllership with LinkedIn in accordance with Art. 26 GDPR. More information on the purposes and legal basis of processing by LinkedIn can be found here. With regard to Insights data, we are jointly controllers with LinkedIn and there is an joint controller agreement (‘Page Insights Joint Controller Addendum’).
Employees of our organisation have access to your personal data to the extent necessary to fulfil the above-mentioned purposes.
We use service providers to support us with data processing as part of data processing on our behalf. These service providers are subject to strict contractual agreements, including confidentiality agreements.
By law, we are obliged in some cases to transfer personal data to authorities (e.g. requests for information from investigating authorities).
LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company, as the provider of LinkedIn, processes the data described here. LinkedIn states that it may use the services of third parties (partner companies and external service providers) to assist it in providing its services (e.g. maintenance, analysis, testing, payment, fraud detection, marketing and development). These third parties have access to your information to the extent reasonably necessary to perform these tasks for LinkedIn and are obligated not to disclose or use your information for any other purpose. LinkedIn also transfers personal data to countries outside the EU (LinkedIn Corporation, 1000 W. Maude Ave, Sunnyvale, CA94085, USA). Standard contractual clauses have been concluded between LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company and LinkedIn Corporation.
We store your personal data only as long as it is necessary to fulfil the above-mentioned purposes and there are no obligations to store it.
In the event of an objection or the withdrawal of consent, we will delete your personal data, unless further processing is permitted by the relevant legal provisions. In addition, illegal content may be deleted. Regarding deletion by LinkedIn, we refer to their privacy statement.
