We only process personal data that is related to the application process and that you provide to us as part of the application process. This might include general information about you, such as your name, address and contact details, information about your professional qualifications and training, information about professional development or other information about your professional career that you provide to us in connection with your application. The data will be processed solely for the purposes of conducting the application process or selecting applicants and for exercising or fulfilling legal rights and obligations. The legal basis for this is Article 6(1)(e) and (c), (2) and (3) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in conjunction with Section 20 of the Rhineland-Palatinate Data Protection Act (LDSG-RLP).
If your application is successful, the data provided during the application process may be further processed and used for employment purposes.
In principle, the provision of your personal data as part of the application process is voluntary and you are not obliged to provide such data. The provision of personal data is therefore not required by law or contract. However, depending on the individual case, the provision of certain personal data is necessary for the selection process to be carried out. If relevant personal data is missing from the application documents, you may not be considered for the position.
We have received your personal data as part of your application. The recipients of the personal data you provided in your application are the relevant personnel managers at the University of Koblenz, the staff associations to be involved in individual cases (e.g. staff council, representative body for disabled employees, equal opportunities officer at the University of Koblenz) and, if applicable, members of selection or appointment committees. Your data will be used for the specific purpose of processing your application in accordance with data protection regulations. It will not be passed on to other third parties unless you have given your express prior consent to the transfer or there is a legal obligation to do so.
We store your personal data for as long as is necessary to make a decision on your application. If an employment relationship between you and us does not materialise, we may continue to store personal data insofar as this is necessary to defend against possible legal claims and to be able to answer any questions regarding the application. In this case, the application documents will be deleted six months after notification of the rejection decision, unless longer storage is required due to legal actions. In addition, you have the option to withdraw your application at any time. This will result in the immediate deletion of your data in our systems with the restrictions mentioned below.
You can request the deletion of individual data transmitted by you at any time during the application process. However, the University of Koblenz reserves the right to store your data for a limited period of six months in order to be able to comply with legal requirements, in particular the obligation to provide evidence under the General Equal Treatment Act (AGG).
In principle, we process your personal data only in Germany and they are not transmitted to third countries.
There is no automated decision-making, including profiling, within the meaning of Article 22 of the GDPR.
As a data subject, you have the following rights under the GDPR:
Right of access: You have the right to receive information about the personal data pertaining to you that we process.
Right to rectification: You may demand that inaccurate personal data will be rectified. Furthermore, you may demand that incomplete data will be completed.
Right to erasure: In certain cases, you are entitled to demand the erasure of your personal data.
Right to restriction of processing: In certain cases, you are entitled to demand that we restrict the processing of your data.
Right to data portability: If you have made the data available to us based on a contract or consent, you are entitled to demand to receive the data which you provided to us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format or to have them transmitted by us to another controller.
Withdrawal of consent: If you have given us your consent as to the processing of your data, you may withdraw the consent at any time with effect for the future. This does not affect the legitimacy of the processing of your personal data before the withdrawal of the consent.
Right to object: You have the right to object at any time to the processing of your personal data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(e) or (f) GDPR for reasons arising from your particular situation.
Your personal data will then no longer be processed unless we can provide compelling protected reasons for such processing that outweigh your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing is necessary for the assertion of, exercise of, or defence against any legal claims.
Asserting your rights: To assert any of your abovementioned rights, please contact us by email at datenschutz@uni-koblenz.deor in writing at the above address. Please ensure that we are able to clearly identify you.
Right to complain to a supervisory authority: You have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your personal data is unlawful. The supervisory authority responsible for us is:
