With the gender equality plan the University of Koblenz is committed to equal opportunities for all genders. Gender equality plans are generally valid for six years and are evaluated halfway through their term. They are based on legal regulations. The current gender equality plan is the University of Koblenz-Landau's gender equality plan from March 2020. Based on an analysis of gender parity at the university in the key areas of research, junior staff and careers, teaching and family friendliness, projects and measures for funding equal opportunities at the university are derived from this plan.

The equality concept for the future of the University of Koblenz deals with its values and visions in connection with equal opportunities work and names specific measures and projects in which these manifest themselves. Equal opportunities in all areas of the university are formulated as a central guiding principle. The concept listed here is also the University of Koblenz-Landau's equality concept for the future.

On 05 November 2025, the Senate decided to directive on protection against discrimination and sexualised harassment and violence. It sets out the university's values as well as strategies for dealing with discriminatory or transgressive behaviour. In addition, the anti-discrimination guideline create conditions to prevent disadvantages and discrimination. It contains definitions, procedures and sanctions.

The online handout of the Federal Conference of Women's and Gender Equality Officers at Universities (bukof) addresses what is meant by sexualised discrimination and violence, provides information on the role of gender equality officers and the legal basis as well as prevention, guidelines at universities and materials. The handbook also includes excursions on benevolent sexism, SDG & Trans* in the context of higher education as well as multiple discrimination and SDG in the context of higher education.

On the one hand, the term multiple discrimination describes a situation in which discrimination occurs on several separate grounds. On the other hand, it refers to situations in which a person is discriminated against on several grounds at the same time, whereby the discrimination is reinforced or interwoven in such a way that the different grounds of discrimination can no longer be separated (intersectional discrimination).

Trans* students and staff experience very specific discrimination at universities, including sexualised discrimination and violence against them. In the area of work, applications and recruitment procedures in particular harbour risks of discrimination (ADS 2013, p. 201), and trans* people are also affected by bullying with above-average frequency (ADS 2017a, 63).

Benevolent sexism describes 'benevolent' sexism that characterises women as warm-hearted and wonderful, but also as incompetent and weak. This has a negative effect on women as individuals (e.g. reducing cognitive performance through self-doubt), but also on women as a social category by reinforcing gender roles and thus gender inequality.

Aim of the (online) handout The aim of the Network for Women's and Gender Studies NRW is to provide information and show perspectives on how to prevent and deal with sexualised discrimination and violence at universities. Theoretical perspectives, empirical surveys, legal contexts and practice-orientated approaches are presented.

The Handout "Promoting gender-inclusive language at universities" of the Network for Women's and Gender Studies NRW contains valuable recommendations for the implementation and further development of gender-equitable language at universities from a legal, linguistic, psycho- and neurolinguistic perspective.

The "Research-orientated equality standards" of the DFG include summaries and recommendations. The fundamental aim is to contribute to an improvement in the area of equal opportunities and equal opportunities. The DFG's gender equality standards focus on the recruitment process for attracting female researchers and on reducing the workload of female researchers in committee work.
