UNIVERSITY OF KOBLENZ
Universitätsstraße 1
56070 Koblenz
Dear members of the University of Koblenz,
We are pleased to be able to tell you more about the work of IKaruS in the current issue of our newsletter. For this issue, we again have made an interesting selection of what has been important or noteworthy in recent months. Our major central event took place at the beginning of June: The University Experience Day (Uni-Erlebnistag). Once again this year, numerous participants from departments and institutions of our university contributed to a colorful and varied programm.
Did you know that departments, institutes and facilities of the university have the opportunity to reach several thousand alumni of our university with an article in the newsletter of the Central Alumni Office? Or that you can borrow props for your graduation ceremony? Read about the work of the Central Alumni Office below.
IKaruS also has numerous offers for students: The self-study portal for example continues to grow in popularity. Students can choose from numerous course modules such as career, writing workshop or personality and autonomously learn in german and english language.
As part of the summer university the Career Service not only offered good conversations and counseling, but also a very special opportunity: Students could win a professtional job application photo shoot. Read more about the event and the comprehensive range the Career Service has to offer in this newsletter issue.
We hope you have a nice summer and will be able to relax a little in the time between terms.
Kind regards
Dr Imke von Helden
Manager IKaruS
The Alumni Newsletter of the University of Koblenz reports on exciting and important news from the University and is released once per quarter by the Central Alumni Office. If you are interested in publishing a contribution in the newsletter, you can do so on the internal service page (login with university ID). You will also find information about another great offer: It's possible to rent gowns and doctoral hats for your graduation ceremonies.
Alumni can also participate actively themselves: They can become members of the alumni network and thus be contacted for events and other activities of the University of Koblenz if they wish. Alumni can also share their success stories with students and report on what they have accomplished after graduating from our university, what they found particularly interesting about their studies and what advice they can pass on.
We would be delighted if you were to draw the attention of alumni or students to the offerings of the Central Alumni Office. To do so, you can order postcards to display on your events. If you are interested, please contact alumni-team@uni-koblenz.de
The digital self-study courses of the Skills Academy of the Interdisciplinary Career and Study Center (IKaruS) are already in full swing in the LMS OpenOlat and are now available to all students via our self-study portal!
Our self-study courses are becoming increasingly popular and, unlike the Skills Academy workshops, are open for an unlimited number of participants. We are therefore constantly working on developing new courses in order to be able to offer a wide range of online courses in many interesting areas. You can find an overview of our current courses here: Self-study portal.
The courses are assigned to the various competence modules Digital Skills, Team and Leadership, Career, Writing Workshop, Getting Started, Presentation and Personality and are available in German and partly in English.
Interested? Feel free to browse through the website, take a look at the courses and get an impression. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at skills-academy@uni-koblenz.de.
Take a spin on the wheel - and with a bit of luck, get a professional job application photo! This is exactly what students were able to experience at the University of Koblenz's SummerUni. The IKaruS Career Service Team not only provided information and advice, but also a real highlight: Students had the opportunity to win a job application photo shoot with photographer Daniel Kondratiuk.
The campaign was very well received: There was a lot of filming, hoping and cheering around the stand. The lucky winners were able to show off their best side on campus the following week - in a relaxed atmosphere and with professional support in front of the camera.
With this campaign, the Career Service makes it clear that career advice is not only meant be theoretical, but should provide students with concrete support - from the first interview to the perfect photo for their application portfolio.
