ERASMUS+ Internships

ERASMUS+ Internships

ERASMUS+ also funds internships for students in a host institution in another European country. EU institutions or institutions managing EU programmes as well as diplomatic representations of the students' countries of origin are excluded.

Students can gain work experience in an international environment and also enhance their key skills such as communication and cooperation skills, openness and knowledge of other cultures and markets.

The EU ServicePoint is responsible for awarding the scholarships and supports the students who would like to complete an ERASMUS+ internship in the following areas:

  • Preparation - linguistic, cultural, organisational

  • the accompaniment - monitoring, quality control

  • the evaluation of the internship abroad.

Funding is available for a compulsory internship or a voluntary internship of between three and twelve months.

The programme offers students the following benefits:

  • For the amount and duration of the funding, please refer to the information provided by the EU ServicePoint.

  • EU internship contract between university, company and student

  • Support in preparing for the stay abroad, including participation in a preparatory ERASMUS+ intensive language course in so-called seldom spoken languages

  • Support during the internship by a contact person in the home university and in the company

  • Recognition of work done abroad

The internship can be completed by students of all disciplines in the 27 EU countries as well as in Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Turkey, Croatia and Switzerland.

Students of the University of Koblenz apply directly at the EU-ServicePoint. Applications are possible at any time. We recommend contacting the EU-Service Point's counselling office as early as possible.

The EU-ServicePoint is a joint institution of five universities in Rhineland-Palatinate:

  • Rhineland-Palatinate University of Technology Kaiserslautern-Landau

  • University of Koblenz

  • University of Applied Sciences Mainz

  • Catholic University of Applied Sciences Mainz

  • Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz

As part of the new ERASMUS+ programme, it has now been possible since summer 2014 for graduates to receive a scholarship for an internship in a European country after graduation. Graduates apply for an ERASMUS+ scholarship directly at the EU ServicePoint while they are still actively studying. You must therefore still be enrolled at the time of your application. You must then be exmatriculated at the beginning of the internship. The internship must be completed no later than 12 months after the end of your studies.

Recognition via the EUROPASS Mobility

Students of Koblenz University who have completed an internship in the countries of the ERASMUS+ programme can apply for a EUROPASS Mobility via the International Relations Office. With the EUROPASS Mobility, applicants can demonstrate to future employers which professional, linguistic but also intercultural, social and personal competences they have acquired during a stay abroad.

EUROPASS cannot be used to document the recognition of mandatory stays abroad in the course of the teacher training programme!

What you should do:

  • Search for and secure a placement.

  • During the mobility measure, document in the Participant Report which tasks and activities you carried out and which knowledge and skills were (newly) acquired in the process.

  • After the mobility, send a Participant Report and confirmation of the completion of the internship from the host institution by e-mail to Dr. Felicitas Kexel in the International Relations Office (felicitaskexel@uni-koblenz.de).

The International Relations Office will apply for a EUROPASS for you at the Bundesinstitut für Berufsbildung (BIBB) (Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training) on the basis of the information provided and will then send it to you by regular mail.
