The research focus on education in and through sport deals with didactic questions about learning and educational processes in multi-perspective and competence-oriented physical education. Based on sports didactic concepts and educational science findings (e.g. cognitive activation, task culture, teaching quality), the didactic actions of sports teachers as well as the learning and educational processes of students are examined. In terms of content, the current focus is on the topics of health education and digital education.
Research

Our research activities are in the following areas
The research focus on the professionalization of (prospective) sports teachers deals with the overarching question of how (prospective) sports teachers can be enabled to implement didactically demanding sports lessons. Against the background of various professionalization approaches (competence orientation, occupational socialization theory, meta-reflexivity), the learning and educational processes of (prospective) teachers in various phases of teacher training - university (first phase), traineeship (second phase) and further and advanced training (third phase) - are examined.
The various research areas primarily use qualitative survey methods (e.g. interviews, group discussions, observation) and evaluation methods (e.g. qualitative content analysis, thematic analysis, document analysis). These and other methods are used in participatory approaches.
