Elections of the 03rd Student Parliament of the University of Koblenz

Announcement

The Electoral Council has determined at its meeting (2025-07-15) the period for the elections of the 03rd Student Parliament of the University of Koblenz, which are hereby announced in accordance with §34 (1) and (4) of the Election regulations from 2023-03-24 (entered into force 2024-07-13) will be regularly tendered.

The Student Parliament is the decision-making and controlling body of the student body. It decides on all matters concerning the student body, unless otherwise stipulated in the statutes. The student parliament is elected by the members of the student body in accordance with § 1 para. 1 of the Statutes of the student body elected.

The statutory number of members is nineteen. Members are elected for a term of one calendar year.

The elections take place from 2025-12-02 to 2025-12-04 from 09:00 to 15:00 in D 238.

All full-time students enrolled at the University of Koblenz Students can stand for election to the student parliament (see §1 and 3 of the Articles of Association). This does not apply to members of the Electoral Council (§9 of the Articles of Association). The Candidacy is only possible on one list (§17 of the election regulations).

List submission

  • Candidacy is only possible on one list.
  • A list comprises the names and e-mail addresses of at least three candidates in recognisable order, who confirm their candidacy by signing it.
  • A list must contain a list designation. The chosen list designation must neither contravene the statutory provisions nor mislead voters. The election committee may reject a list designation in justified cases.
  • Each list can be submitted in writing to the electoral council no later than 2.00 p.m. 21 days before the first day of the election. The submission deadline is 2025-11-07 at 14:00.
  • The delegates for the election committee must be nominated at the time of submission.

List connection

  • List combinations are permitted. This means that the combined lists are considered as one list for the allocation of seats in relation to the other lists and list combinations and for the allocation of seats within the list combination.
  • All candidates on the lists concerned must have agreed to the list combination in writing.
  • The list association must determine the order of the candidates.
  • The electoral council must be notified in writing of the entry into a list association no later than two days after expiry of the deadline for list submission pursuant to § 10 Paragraph 4. Such a declaration can no longer be withdrawn.
  • The deadline is 2025-11-10.

General Assembly

The General Assembly will take place 2025-11-26 at 12:00 noon in D 028. All lists standing for election will present themselves here.

As you can see from the agenda, changes to the legal framework documents may still be pending. This will depend, among other things, on the current student parliament.

Postal vote

  • If an authorised voter is likely to be prevented from casting their vote in the polling station on the election date, they can make use of the postal voting option.
  • The application for postal voting must be submitted to the electoral council no later than ten days before the first day of voting.
  • After applying for a postal vote, the applicant is not admitted to the ballot box. The loss of the documents must be reported to the electoral council. In this case, only the ballot box election can be used.
  • Deadline for applications is 2025-11-20

The vote will be counted immediately after the election. The room and exact time will be announced.

Contesting the election

The election can be contested in writing to the election council within four weeks of the election. The election committee decides on the challenge and announces the result with reasons by posting a notice. If necessary, the election committee shall tender new elections.

Constitution of the student parliament

The Electoral Council shall convene the elected representatives to the constituent meeting immediately after the election results have been published. The constituent meeting must take place no later than the next student hour after the election. The Electoral Council chairs the meeting until the election of the first member of the Student Parliament Executive Committee.
