Society in Transformation – Korean Students' Perspectives

Workshop, 29.–30.06.2023 South Korea is one of the most important industrial societies these days. But after World War II it has been one of the poorest states in the world. The Workshop will deepen the understanding of the Korean society as a very dynamic and successful one on an economic and – nowadays – a pop-cultural scale. Students of our partner University – Kangnam University of Yongin – will highlight the political and societal dynamics of South Korea from their perspectives as students and additionally from the impact of the educational system, especially the higher education at universities. Furthermore, they will introduce the audience to the Korean students` life, its habits and challenges which are very much inbetween the traditional collectively organized and culturally imprinted rigor of education and the western pop-culture and living style. The workshop will be held in English, German and Korean with translation.
