M.Sc. Seminar Business Intelligence

Module numbers: 04WI2205, 04WI2202, 04WI2201

The Business Intelligence Seminar is complementary to the Business Intelligence Course and Exercise (offered each year in the winter semester). Students who would like to participate in the BI Seminar are required to attend the BI Course/Exercise either in parallel (in the same semester) or in a previous year. The BI Course is an important prerequisite because it provides the necessary basics for Business Intelligence and Collaboration Analytics and the skills to work with Microsoft Power BI. Both, the theoretical foundations as well as the practical skills with a BI tool are necessary for the seminar work. In the seminar, the students conduct a research project with real-world system data and report on the findings in an academic paper. The meta topic of the seminar is Collaboration Analytics, an approach for analysing collaboration activities in Enterprise Collaboration Systems.

The seminar is primarily aimed at students of Information Systems (Wirtschaftsinformatik) and Digital Business Management (DBM). Interested students, please apply for the seminar using the special application form. Please note: You can only participate in this seminar if you have been admitted for the BI Course (in this semester or a previous one).

The seminar will be organised in a Community on UniConnect. Access to this community will be given to students who have been admitted. You need to register (create a user account) for UniConnect if you do not have one yet.

The academic literature will be available in a reference management system called Mendeley.
