The Night of Research will take place at the University of Koblenz on 11 July 2024. Prof Dr Anja Schiepe Tiska is taking part in the event with the following two presentations:
"How does the PISA study arrive at its results?" - Lecture
(18:00-18:35 in D 239)
"New PISA shock for German pupils" was the headline in the Rhein-Zeitung newspaper on 6 December 2023 about the results of the current PISA study 2022, which gave 15-year-olds devastating grades in reading, maths and science. But how does PISA arrive at these results? How does the study work? And how can the scientific findings be interpreted appropriately? In her lecture, Prof Dr Anja Schiepe-Tiska outlines the structure of the PISA study and the process from the selection of a school to a competence table in the report.
New PISA shock, what now? - Panel discussion on the results in the STEM subjects (19:00-20:00 in D 239)
PISA is an international study that measures the school performance of 15-year-olds. In the panel discussion, the panellists will shed light on the results and background of the latest PISA study. Building on this, they will discuss possible ways out of the low performance in the STEM subjects, also with a view to teacher training. Prof Dr Anja Schiepe-Tiska will be joined on the panel:
Prof. Dr Lina Oravec (University of Koblenz, Music Education and Managing Director of the ZfL) will host the event. Prof Dr Claudia Quaiser-Pohl (University of Koblenz, Vice President for Research and Transfer) will give a welcome address.
