Self-study course on the basics of data protection

GDPR knowledge for everyday working life at the
University

The self-study course ‘Fundamentals of Data Protection’ is aimed at all university employees who wish and need to handle data safely and responsibly in their day-to-day work.

Over the course of nine concise modules, you will gain thorough knowledge of the GDPR and the responsible handling of personal data. You will learn about the relevant legal framework, how data should be processed correctly, and what rights data subjects – such as students or staff – have.

Short knowledge checks allow you to test what you have learnt straight away. Upon successful completion, you will receive a certificate and the ‘Fundamentals of Data Protection’ badge as proof of achievement.

You will need approximately 1 hour to complete this course, as well as an OpenOlat account.

The course was developed by the Virtual Campus Rhineland-Palatinate (VCRP) in collaboration with the data protection officers at universities in Rhineland-Palatinate.
