From 28 September to 2 October 2025, Nadine Dittert, Luca Christ and Sarah von Styp Rekowski took part in the research meeting "Methodologies and Traditions in Computing Education Research" at Schloss Dagstuhl, Leibniz Centre for Computer Sciences.

In computer science didactics, research methods are based on various disciplines such as statistics, educational data analysis, educational psychology and educational sociology. This has shown that researchers in the Computing Education Research belong to different "traditions" - they view domain-specific knowledge from different perspectives: algorithmic, scientific, social or creative-practical ("making").

The research meeting brought together research groups from these different methodological and theoretical traditions. The aim was to develop a common understanding of how future studies in the Computing Education Research can be designed to take account of the diversity of these perspectives.
