FAQ - Frequently asked questions about KLIPS

KLIPS in general

KLIPS is not displayed as expected

This is usually due to an incorrect display by your web browser. Often, it helps to clear your browser cache. You can find instructions for various browsers, for example on this website.

Another possibility could be that you have inadvertently switched off the page style. In the desktop version of Mozilla Firefox, for example, this setting can be found under "View --> Web page style --> Standard style".

KLIPS Login

General information about logging into KLIPS

The login to KLIPS works, like almost all services provided by the Centre for Information and Media Technologies of the University of Koblenz, via Shibboleth + Multi-Factor-Authentication (MFA). Here, you can find help for MFA and on this website, you can find general information and help about your Uni account.

I have a University Account, but I still can't log in to KLIPS

This can have various causes:

  • Please check whether you can log in to other online services provided by the ZIMT, for example our Nextcloud.
  • If you just created your University Acount, please be patient. For technical reasons, it may take a while for your system access to KLIPS to become active. In addition, login to KLIPS is only possible from the beginning of the term (summer: April, winter: October).
  • If you forgot your credentials, please use the "forgot password" function.
  • Please make sure to use the correct button. Note that there is only a single button for members of Koblenz University of Applied Sciences (meaning for both students and employees).
  • Your system access to KLIPS only works as a duly enrolled student in the respective term. As soon as you are exmatriculated, you can no longer log in to KLIPS.
  • If you are both a student and an employee, please make sure you use the correct button at the login procedure (depending on whether you want to work as an employee or as a student).

Otherwise, please send us as detailed error description to klips@uni-koblenz.de. Please provide your full name and matriculation number.

Login to the Unicard photo upload

Logging in to the Unicard photo upload works in the same way as logging into KLIPS.

Registration for courses

The organizers are responsible for the registration and deregistration phases.

Why are there registrations for courses although no registration is currently possible for this course?

There can be several reasons for this, for example

  • The occupancy phase is already over
  • The event was already open for booking but has been blocked again for organizational or technical reasons - message "Booking functions temporarily blocked"
  • The existing registrations were entered manually, e.g. from registration lists from the previous semester

Please check the desired course regularly to see whether the registration has been reopened or contact the lecturer responsible.

Why are some courses marked with "Currently not available"?

This message is displayed if:

  • the registration period for the course has not yet begun
  • registration for the course has been blocked, e.g. because it is only to be reopened after an introductory event
  • technical problems prevent registration

If you cannot find a reason in the comments for the course why the registration is blocked within the specified registration period, please send an email with the course title, the course ID (if available) and the institution to klips@uni-koblenz.de.

When does the registration phase take place?

You can find the registration phases for the next terms in the KLIPS help under Document phases.

Deregistration from courses

At the University of Koblenz, you will not suffer any disadvantage if you do not cancel your registration for a course. In particular, registration and admission to a course is not associated with registration relevant for the examination. There is a separate registration procedure for examinations in KLIPS for this purpose. However, we ask you, especially in the interest of your fellow students, to cancel your registration for courses in which you have been admitted if you are unable or unwilling to attend the course. This releases the place for other students who may be on a waiting list.

You can deregister from a course within the enrollment periods or in a deregistration period after the end of the late enrollment phase via the "apply now / cancel application" link in the individual view of a course or via the "cancel application" link in the list of your courses under "My Functions --> My Lectures". The deregistration must be confirmed in the following display (tick the box in front of "cancel application" and click on the "cancel application" button).

Deregistration may not be possible under certain conditions, for example if the admission procedure for the course has been completed.

Forwarding e-mails sent to your personal university e-mail address

The ZIMT's Webmailer SOGo offers the option of forwarding all e-mails addressed to your university e-mail address to your private e-mail address stated in the enrollment phase and stored in the Profile management. If you use such forwarding, please ensure that this e-mail address is functional and that you can read the incoming emails. In addition, please only use your university e-mail address when contacting us.

What do the statuses in my personal timetable mean?

The following is a list of all possible registration statuses:

  • AN: Registered. Declares the intention to attend an event

Exam registration

Who can register for examinations via KLIPS?

It is mandatory for all students throughout the university to register for examinations via KLIPS.

Invalid date / table parstg not sufficiently filled

For higher date indicators in particular before the start of registration always one night must pass. Otherwise, those registering will receive a "parstg error" ("Parameters for the study programme"), as the application must be restarted after midnight in order to become aware of changes due to new examination organisation records.

Why can't I see all my registered examinations, achievements and grades?

Please ask the lecturer responsible for conducting the corresponding examination whether the grades or achievements have already been entered.

Under "My Functions -> Administration of exams -> Exam Extract -> Click on the info icon", examinations are displayed as soon as they have been booked. Please note, however, that the ECTS points or the grades of the examinations of a module consisting of several examinations are only added up as soon as the complete module has been completed, i.e. as soon as you have passed all the examinations of the module. This statement also applies to the totalling of the overall account.

When will my internship be booked in KLIPS?

The internship data is sent to us once a term by the examination office and then imported into KLIPS. If no grade is displayed in KLIPS for an internship, your data has not yet been reported to us. Your internship grades will be added during the next data import.

If you have any further questions about your internship, please contact the examination office.

Why do courses disappear from my timetable shortly before examinations?

If your status is set to "TE" ("participated"), the event will be removed from the timetable. You can still view the course at any time under "My lectures".

If you would still like the course concerned to appear in your timetable, please use this functionality to bookmark an event.

What do the abbreviations for the type of examination mean?

  • KL: exam
  • S: written examination
  • M: oral exam
  • SH: Independent term paper
  • E: written, possibly oral exam
  • L: performance certificate
  • O: written or oral
  • U: practical teaching examination
  • nA: not specified
  • GA: group work
