Application procedure

Please use our Application portal in the case of both open-admission and restricted-admission study programmes. For study programmes with open admissions, you can enrol immediately after submitting your application. For study programmes with admission restrictions, the application serves as an application for admission. Immatriculation is then possible if you have been granted admission.

1st registration

To start the application process, please set up an applicant account in our application portal. To do this, please call the Application portal and select there "Register now". Please enter your personal details and a password of your choice and make a note of your access data for the portal (password). After completing the registration process, you will receive an e-mail with a link to confirm your registration, which you should click on. You will also be given your user name in this e-mail.

2. carry out the application

After you have registered in our Application portal registered, you can start your application. You have the option of preparing several applications. An application in preparation can be started by Withdraw request can be cancelled again. To generate your application, please click on Generate request. Once you have submitted your application, you can no longer make any changes to its content. Therefore, please check your entries carefully beforehand.

For study programmes or subjects with admission restrictions, please print out the Generated application for admission (PDF)which is now available in the Application portal and send it together with the documents indicated on it to the following address by post to the Student Registrar's Office. If you have applied for study programmes or subjects that do not require admission, you will be automatically redirected to online enrolment. In this case, too, please print out the online enrolment form at the end of the online enrolment process. Application for enrolment (PDF) and send it together with the documents specified on it to by post to the Student Registrar's Office.

Important note: If you already enrolled at a university you must inform us of this, even if you are aiming for an application for the first semester. Furthermore, applications for recognition must be submitted at the time of application. Applicants for a Master's programme Please enclose proof of successful completion of a Bachelor's degree programme or an equivalent degree with your application. If you have not yet completed the study programme, please add a current transcript of records. The application for dual enrolment in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes is available on the Service page of the student secretariat available.

The receipt of your application for admission will be confirmed to you by the application status in the portal Received is displayed. For study programmes with completely open admissions, you will automatically be shown the application status Admission will be displayed. You will be informed by e-mail about changes to your application status and will then find more detailed information in the Application portal. You will be informed of the result of the authorisation procedure by post.

3. authorisation procedure

Your application for authorisation can be processed if it on time and complete has been received by the university and you have received the basic Prerequisites fulfil.

a) Applicants for a study programme without admission requirements will always be offered a place if they fulfil the admission requirements. You can apply immediately after entering your data in the Application for authorisation enrol. Information on immatriculation can be found under 5. This applies equally to multi-subject study programmes (i.e. for the Bachelor's degree programme related to teaching and the two-subject Bachelor's degree programme) if you have only chosen subjects that do not require admission.

b) Applicants for a study programme with restricted admission or for one-subject study programmes (Bachelor's degree programme related to teaching, two-subject Bachelor's degree programme) with restricted-admission subjects, participate in the selection procedure. The selection procedure consists of a main procedure and an optional succession procedure. For combined degree programmes, the selection must be carried out separately for each subject, discipline. For combined degree programmes, we can only grant you admission if you have received admission for each subject, discipline with admission restrictions. You will be informed of the result of the admission procedure by post. After successful admission, please enrol (see 5.).

4. result of the admission procedure and succession procedure

a) You have been granted admission for each subject, discipline in your application: You will receive a letter of admission by post and can now enrol (see 5.). On the letter of admission you will find further information about the enrolment process (in particular the deadline and Required documents). However, you will only receive a letter of admission by post if you have applied for a (partial) subject, discipline with restricted admission; otherwise, admission is automatic and will only be sent to you in the Application portal confirmed.

b) You have applied for a one-subject study programme with restricted admission and have not been granted admission: You will receive a rejection notice by post. The rejection notice will be accompanied by a declaration of participation in the Succession procedure attached. If you would like to participate in the succession procedure, please send us this declaration within the specified deadline. You also have the alternative option of applying for an admission-free study programme. This is possible both before and after the succession procedure. This ensures that you will always be able to obtain a place on a degree programme and start your studies at the University of Koblenz, regardless of the outcome of the succession procedure.

c) You have applied for a multi-subject study programme (bachelor's degree related to teaching, two-subject bachelor's degree) and have not been granted admission for each subject, but only partial admission: For combined degree programmes, the selection is carried out separately for each associated subject, discipline. If you are unable to gain admission to at least one subject, discipline or programme in the selection process, you will receive a letter of rejection by post. In the rejection letter, you will be informed of the admitted subjects, disciplines (partial admissions). An application for participation in the succession procedure is attached to the rejection letter. If you would like to participate in the succession procedure with the rejected subject, disciplines, please send us this application within the specified deadline. You will then retain your partial admissions. You also have the alternative option of applying for an admission-free subject, discipline as a replacement for the rejected subject. This is possible both before and after the succession procedure. This guarantees that you will be able to continue your studies regardless of the outcome of the succession procedure. a study place in any case and begin your studies at the University of Koblenz. If you have not been granted admission to a teacher training programme for your desired type of school, you can apply for enrolment for two subjects and begin your studies for a type of school that does not require admission.

5. immatriculation (enrolment)

For (combined) study programmes without admission restrictions, you will be able to enrol (matriculate) immediately. For study programmes with restricted admission or combined study programmes with restricted admission sub-subjects, you must first wait for the result of the admission procedure. In this case, you can only enrol for the desired study programme once you have received admission. Further information on the enrolment deadline and on the documents to be submitted can be found on the letter of admission. For immatriculation please use the Application portal. Please then print out the PDF with the enrolment application and send it by post to the Student Registrar's Office. The following documents must be submitted for immatriculation:

  • Proof of payment of the semester fee (see Information on the amount and composition)

  • Proof of having passed the admission test, if applicable (in the subjects, disciplines Music, Performing Arts and Sport), if not already submitted with the application for admission.

  • Health insurance certificate or a certificate of exemption from the statutory insurance obligation (see Health insurance information sheet for students, Please note the information below!)

The University of Koblenz may only accept electronic notifications from the statutory health insurance company. Therefore, please request a confirmation from your insurance company (M10 notification). To send it to our university, please use the Consignor number H0000289. Privately insured persons must also contact a statutory health insurance fund. In this case, the statutory health insurance fund checks whether there is an exemption from compulsory insurance and then sends the electronic notification. Without the electronic proof, immatriculation is not possible. We are not allowed to consider the insurance contracts of private health insurance companies as proof.

Only from applicants who were previously enrolled at other universities:

  • Copies of the exmatriculation certificates from all universities attended. The exmatriculation certificate must show your name and the exmatriculation note.

  • Proof of university examinations (copies only, please)

  • In the case of an application for a higher semester, please enclose your application for recognition of previous studies. You will find more information on this on your application for admission.

If incorrect or incomplete documents are submitted, enrolment may be cancelled. not take place. Once you have successfully enrolled, you will receive confirmation of your immatriculation by post with further information about starting your studies at the University of Koblenz.

Upload an ID photo for your UniCard

The UniCard is your official student ID card for the University of Koblenz. The card requires a Picture of your identity card requiredwhich you should make available to us via upload after successful enrolment. You will need a user ID for the image upload, which you can apply for at the Centre for Information and Media Technologies (Centre for Information and Media Technologies). The UniCard with your ID picture is required so that you can identify yourself during examinations and use other card functions.
