Scholarships

Scholarships offer students and doctoral candidates financial support and thus more time to concentrate on their studies or doctorate. Scholarship programmes offer the opportunity to make valuable contacts. Scholarship holders often have access to a network of alumni, sponsors and other scholarship holders who have similar interests and goals. This can prove extremely useful when it comes to future career opportunities, internships or mentoring. It is therefore worth considering an application for a scholarship.

About the Deutschlandstipendium

Since 2011, we have been supporting the Initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research to establish a nationwide scholarship for students with the help of the Germany Scholarship.

On the following pages you will find all the information you need if you would like to become a sponsor or apply for a scholarship.

The Deutschlandstipendium is based on the Federal Government's Scholarship Programme Act (StipG). This and other legal bases can be found in the Download centre.

Scholarship for first-year students in their 1st & 2nd semester

The German National Academic Foundation is looking for committed and high-achieving students in their first and second semesters. These students can apply independently for a scholarship from the Studienstiftung without being nominated.

Scholarship for advanced students in their 3rd & 4th semester

The Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes supports students whose talent and personality promise special achievements in the service of the general public. an important route to Studienstiftung funding is the so-called "proposal via the examination offices". Students in the top group of a (sub-)study programme are proposed to the Studienstiftung by the university; after examination of the formal requirements, the Studienstiftung then contacts the proposed candidates and invites them to submit application documents.

Advancement scholarship for experienced professionals

Doctoral fellowships

The Interdisciplinary Centre for Research, Graduate Support and Human Resource Development (Interdisciplinary Centre for Research, Graduate Support and Human Resource Development, Interdisciplinary Centre for Research, Graduate Support and Human Resource Development) Grant programme for young female scientists (NaWi programme) supports the further qualification of young female academics with a total of six funding lines. For example, female PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers at the University of Koblenz who are exposed to multiple burdens due to raising children and academic work can be supported by a student assistant as part of the "(Post-)PhD candidate with child" funding line.

Start-up funding EXIST-Women

With EXIST-Women The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection supports women at universities and research institutions who are interested in setting up a business in the phase prior to founding a company, particularly in the development of their entrepreneurial personality and the development of their start-up idea.

EXIST-Women offers women the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the topic of self-employment at an early stage. It is aimed at female students, graduates, scientists or women who have completed vocational training - with or without an existing start-up idea.
