Even today, sexual orientations and gender identities that supposedly deviate from the norm cannot usually be lived out freely. LGBTQIA+-People are structurally discriminated against and are not taken into account or even ignored in institutions. Below you will find counselling centres for LGBTQIA+-People.

Mental health is essential for well-being and resilience in everyday life, studies and professorship appointments. Statistically speaking, 4 out of 10 Germans suffer from a mental illness or crisis at least once in their lives (see Report Psychotherapy 2020). This trend is intensifying during the coronavirus pandemic. However, mental illnesses are still often taboo and toxic lifestyles are promoted by social structures such as the pressure to perform at work. Many students suffer from high mental pressure. The project "Healthy studying in Rhineland-Palatinate" has taken the opportunity to draw up a handbook on healthy studying and resilience during studies in order to take preventative action against the high level of mental stress experienced by students. As people with disabilities you are confronted with a variety of problems in everyday life. This includes not only the accessible design and texting of general public spaces, media or homes, but also social stigma or discrimination. On the following page you will find advice centres for people with disabilities.

Racism, antisemitic and antimuslim discrimination have a long tradition. Universities also carry on this tradition - albeit mostly unconsciously - and support hierarchies and structural inequalities that need to be dismantled in the long term. If you are talking about discrimination are affected in the aforementioned form, please contact the equal opportunities officer and/or to the advice centres that we have compiled for you. They provide advice and support with racist, antisemitic and antimuslim discrimination.

Women are still underrepresented in the academic world. Financial aspects often represent significant barriers to pursuing scientific careers. Students or doctoral candidates with child(ren) or caring responsibilities are usually only able to pursue gainful employment to a very limited extent, if at all. Scholarships offer a welcome opportunity to reconcile family, studies and professorship appointments while being able to plan financially relatively independently. Numerous state institutions, research organisations and foundations across Germany and the federal states therefore offer support measures for young female academics with the aim of increasing the proportion of women in academia and research. In the following, we would like to give you an initial overview of internal and external funding opportunities in the form of scholarships and mentoring programmes for students, graduates and postdocs.

Sexualised and domestic violence are ignored and hidden, especially in the workplace. Yet this is precisely where sexualised violence often takes place. The coronavirus pandemic has in turn strengthened domestic violence and favoured seemingly hopeless situations in which people's own homes become the scene of violence. As single parents you are exposed to great stress. It is often particularly challenging for them to reconcile their studies/profession appointments with raising children. This is particularly true in the university environment, where work/study outside "normal" business hours - and therefore outside the usual opening hours of childcare facilities - is common.
