The events for scientific staff and science managers focus on the tasks you carry out in your current role. Topics include, for example, communication, self-management and time management, project management, leadership, digitalisation and acquisition of external funding. By attending various events, you can actively train to tackle the challenges of your day-to-day work.

For the processing of a specific request, we will organise an individual coaching for up to three hours that addresses your current needs. Classic topics can be, for example

• Role management and leadership
• Communication and conflict
• Self and time management

The topics of team development, communication or conflict management pose particular challenges for teams. Managers therefore have the opportunity to discuss related issues as part of a one-off team coaching of three hours together with their team.

The field of science management requires a wide range of competences – from communication and project management to an in-depth understanding of university structures and processes.

With the certificate WiMaSKILLS – Kompetenzen für Karrierewege zwischen Forschung, Organisation und Strategie, you can systematically develop and expand your competencies for this field – both to prepare specifically for science management and to further achieve professionalisation of an existing role in this area.

Spanning four modules, the certificate addresses the key requirements of the professional field. The content is delivered in a variety of formats – including workshops, lectures, information sessions and coaching sessions, both in person and online.

The certificate can be obtained by attending five sessions:

• one session from Module A,
• two sessions from Module B, and
• two further sessions from Modules C and D (which can be combined as desired).

Alternatively, one course from Modules B, C and D may be replaced by a thematically relevant one-to-one coaching session. In this case, four courses and a three-hour coaching session are required to obtain the certificate.

It is recommended that you allow three to four terms to complete the certificate.
