As a postdoc, you have a wide range of skills that you can take into account in the context of your career management, both for the teaching profession and for other career paths. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have about career paths and opportunities and support you in developing your skills during your qualification phase.

For the processing of a specific request, we will organise an individual coaching for up to three hours that addresses your current needs. Classic topics in the postdoc phase can be, for example

• Career management (including location assessment, decision-making, career path to professorship, resource management, skills profile)
• Role management and (self-)leadership (including role clarification, role expectations and conflicts, organisation of the qualification phase, compatibility aspects)
• Appointment procedure (including application and concept paper)

You can also apply for a lectureship if you are preparing a proposal for external funding (in all programmes) to the German Research Foundation (DFG).

The event concept for postdocs focuses in particular on the topics of career management (both for remaining in the academic system and moving into the non-academic labour market) and leadership development. Other elements of human resources development and research support are also included in the event programme. The programmes are embedded in a modular system consisting of:

Cross-thematic (short) formats, such as presentations and impulses that promote dialogue and networking

Workshops that build on existing scientific skills and offer corresponding specialisations based on the requirements of the postdoc phase

Workshops that support personal development and the expansion of the necessary competences

Workshops that open up an examination of academic and non-academic career paths, professional strategies and self-marketing

In addition to issuing individual certificates of attendance, we offer you the option of completing the events as part of the KarrierePLAN – Von der Perspektive zur Strategie certificate.

The certificate can be obtained by attending at least four workshops/coaching sessions from modules B to D. The free choice of topics allows you to put together a customised and suitable event package that provides evidence of an in-depth and systematic examination of relevant topics for your career path.

The career fund offers postdoctoral researchers financial support to further develop research ideas and prepare and implement proposals for external funding.

The career fund is financed by the research initiative of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate.

NaWi – For Female (Early Career) Researchers and W1 Professors supports female scientists between and within qualification levels with a total of six funding lines. The programme promotes the visibility and networking of the funded women within the scientific community and thus makes an important contribution to equal opportunities and increasing the proportion of women at the upper career levels in academia.

Postdoctoral researchers can apply for a total of five NaWi funding lines: "Conference Participation", "Printing and Proofreading Grant", "Conference Hosting", "NaWi Scholarship" and "(Post-)Doc with Child".

If you are currently actively working on your post-doctoral qualification, you can also apply for the funding line "Research with Student Assistant".
