CZS STEM-Forum for Interdisciplinary Dialogue

The Carl-Zeiss-Foundation STEM-Forum for Interdisciplinary Dialogue, CZS STEM-Forum for short, promotes interdisciplinarity in the STEM faculties and cooperation of scientists with other research groups at the University of Koblenz and beyond. The aim is to create structures and strengthen competences in order to develop and carry out interdisciplinary research projects. In addition, various formats are used to support the networking of researchers at the University of Koblenz with regional partners from industry and the (inter)national scientific community.

The CZS STEM-Forum is aimed at STEM scientists at all career levels who are interested in or currently conducting interdisciplinary research.

Target groups

The CZS STEM-Forum is aimed at:

Master students who are interested in an interdisciplinary Master's thesis in the STEM field and are thinking about a subsequent PhD,
Doctoral Candidates, Scientists with a PhD and professors from STEM subjects, disciplines and STEM subject-specific pedagogy who are planning an interdisciplinary project,
Scientists at all career stages from STEM subjects and STEM subject-specific pedagogy who are interested in interdisciplinary work and
Science managers who want to support interdisciplinary projects in STEM and participate in the CZS STEM-Forum events.

Events

The Interdisciplinary colloquium enables doctoral candidates, postdocs and W1 professors to present themselves and their research to a non-specialist audience.
The Workshops are specifically developed to support interdisciplinary dialogue and interdisciplinary research in STEM.
For the Guest lectures scientists from other universities are invited to present their interdisciplinary projects, ideas or approaches in STEM in a lecture that is open to the public.
In the Panel discussions scientists from various disciplines are shedding light on a socially relevant question and discussing possible solutions.

The CZS STEM-Forum is now providing the following Fundings for doctoral candidates, academics without a professorship and W1 professors from the Natural Sciences, Computer Sciences, Mathematics and STEM subject-specific pedagogies:

Subsidisation of research stays with (potential) cooperation partners for interdisciplinary projects with a maximum funding amount of 1,000 euros.

Subsidisation of the purchase of consumables and software licences for interdisciplinary projects with a maximum funding amount of 500 euros. All relevant information on applying for funding for the aquisition of consumables and software licences can be found here.

Scientists from other disciplines whose research topic is clearly related to STEM can also apply.

The CZS STEM Forum is sponsored by the Carl Zeiss Stiftung. The foundation has set itself the goal of creating space for scientific breakthroughs. As a partner of academic excellence, it supports basic research as well as application-oriented research and teaching in the STEM faculties (Mathematics / Natural Sciences, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Technology).
